LDA sets up Agency to stimulate Construction Industry of Pakistan

Lahore: The governing body of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has developed the Ravi Urban Development Agency in pursuit of reinforcing the construction industry in Pakistan.

In the subsequent third meeting of LDA, Vice-Chairman LDA SM Imran held the chair while Director General Ahmad Aziz Tarar briefed the meeting about the compliance status of the earlier decisions.

Under the LDA Act 1975, Ravi Urban Development Agency (RUDA) is set up to exercise all functions under the Act in its areas of jurisdiction. The meeting decided to forward a summary to the Punjab Government to acquire cooperation from other relevant departments- Environment Protection Agency, Revenue, etc being among them. The aim is to simplify the process of approving new private housing schemes within a specific time-frame.

The authority has also decided to facilitate the approval of all the types of residential and commercial building plans within 30 days. In order to promote the use of technologies in the construction industry, the authority has allowed adding a new clause in Building and Zoning Regulations 2019 to allow the provision of steel structure in all kinds of construction.
